How we source and verify 5×10 prices.
Same methodology as 5x5storage.com
Public Storage operator city pages are the primary source. We use STANDARD ROLLING RATES wherever published, not online-only first-month discounts. We flag $1-first-month and Memorial Day Sale promos explicitly. We refuse to fabricate data for metros where the sample is thin.
Proxy units where exact 5×10 isn't listed
Public Storage's NYC, LA, and SF /5x10-storage-units pages returned no exact 5×10 inventory at the queried facilities. We used proxy sizes (7×10, 7.5×10, 6×10) as directional anchors and flagged the metros as verified-low-confidence. The proxy unit is named in each metro page's sample-operator field.
National figure triangulation
The national 5×10 median of $72/mo is triangulated, not single-sourced. Public Storage's 2026 guide publishes $74; Yardi's per-sqft figure derives $68 on a 50-sqft base; SpareFoot's small-unit guidance reflects promo pricing. $72 is the midpoint of the realistic standard rolling band. See /national/ for the full triangulation.
What we don't claim
- We do NOT claim 5×10 fits a small car. Public Storage and Extra Space size guides explicitly contradict this; we follow the operator data.
- We do NOT publish a 50-state $/sqft table. Yardi's state-level data is paywalled; SpareFoot aggregates listings not surveys.
Re-verification
Public Storage city pages re-fetched every 60 days. Pre-deploy gate blocks publication of any change with a stale dated row.
